Hey there, my name is Ryn (pronounced like Rin). I identify as a white, trans, queer, neurodivergent, invisibly disabled person navigating life with chronic pain and illness. I strive to live a life similar to my gender expression which is both fluid and expansive.
I am a graduate level intern currently working towards a degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling with a Specialization in Addiction and a certification in Ecotherapy from Lewis & Clark College. My clinical focus includes trans, queer, kink, and ethical non-monogamy as well as neurodivergence in people who were assigned female at birth. Collectively, I carry years of personal, educational, and work experience with the LGBTQIA2S+ community and social justice, equity, and inclusion advocacy. Through my personal experience I have been made aware of the cracks within the current westernized medical model and welcome frank discussion about them in the counseling room.
Therapy begins with building trust and feeling seen without judgement. I accept my clients as they are, and we become a team, weaving in skills while diving deep into the therapeutic process. My therapeutic style is trauma-informed and anti-oppressive with a blend of intuitive and research-based practices to help each person learn how to work with their emotions, see situations without judgment and recognize solutions that fit personal values. As a counselor I understand the difficulty living with the unrealistic expectations of our capitalist society and how important it is to feel encouraged, grounded, and empowered.
