Family Roots Therapy
Family Roots Therapy, a Portland counseling practice, was founded with a vision to start a practice that focused specifically on the needs of young children and families, rather than treating them as an afterthought. They believe that supporting children means supporting parents. They believe in treating the whole family as a system.
Niko Tiare (she/they)
Peer Support Specialist
"Finding a counselor that matches your identities and politics can be traumatizing as QTBIPOC. To be courageous enough to seek help only to be met with someone who hasn't done the work to unlearn their ideas around heteronormativity and internalized whiteness can be painful. As a peer counselor, my priority is creating a space where you feel affirmed, seen, and respected. I work from a trauma informed lens that de-centers the DSM and celebrates neurodiversity. I am queer, trans, kink, and polyam affirming. I believe in developing respectful counselor-client relationships that foster growth and healing."

Lived Experience Counselor
"I’m not a traditional counsellor. I’m a peer counsellor. I’m a lived experience counsellor. I believe in community care and peer support over therapy. I’m a peer worker, advocate and consultant who has lived experience with mental illness, trauma, disability and neurodivergence. I’m non-binary, autistic and living with ADHD, bipolar and EDS. I’m known on Instagram as the Lived Experience Counsellor; the founder behind the Lived Experience Studio and our peer-based approach called lived experience counselling."
Stella Harris
Sex Educator
I’ll help you find new ways to think about your sex life. Sometimes there’s just a little bit of missing information, and sometimes there’s a process of learning, exploration, and growth. The thing that I love most about my work is helping you figure out the challenges facing you in your sex life right now, and knowing you’ll go home and have better sex and relationships (with a partner or with yourself) because of the work we do together
